NEW LLC Contractors license in CA

First LLC license issued to Capitol Services client!

The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) issued the first state contractor license to a limited liability company (LLC) on January 19, 2012. The recipient – a client of Capitol Services Inc — Doyon Project Services LLC received their license in approximately two weeks.

We have the knowledge and expertise to help guide you through the new requirements to obtain a contractor’s license for your LLC.

According to the CSLB Registrar Steve Sands, “our Licensing division has had to reject many applications because they were submitted without the correct information”.  The Board is alerting applicants to the errors such as missing LLC registration numbers and personnel listed on the application that do not match those reported by the California Secretary of State’s office (SOS).

It is important that the same names and number of personnel listed on the application match all of the personnel information provided to CSLB by the SOS.

The CSLB cannot process the LLC license application until all information is consistent with SOS records. The personnel information is necessary for CSLB to determine the appropriate amount of required LLC liability insurance (between $1 million and $5 million, depending on the number of personnel). The new law also requires that LLC licenses file a $100,00 surety bond (in addition to the $12,500 contractor’s bond)

The Secretary of State has a four-month processing backlog for the Statement of Information, initial filings and updates.  Capitol Services can expedite the filing of all your LLC documents – in as little as 24 hours — thereby allowing you to secure the LLC license in a timely manner.
